Audible’s sleep timer allows you to automatically stop the audiobook you are listening to, after a set time. It lets you fall asleep to your favorite audiobook.
At the end of the sleep time, Audible fades your audiobook out and stops it. It allows you to get your sleep without draining your device’s battery.
Some people love bedtime audiobook sessions, others use audiobooks to help them sleep. The sleep timer works on Audible apps for iOS and Android and you can also set the timer on Alexa devices.
Let us understand how to set the timer in Audible app and how to disable, adjust, and extend the sleep timer.
How to Set Timer on Audible
To set the timer in the Audible app, tap the Timer icon when an Audible book is playing in the Audible’s App Player.
The Timer Setting feature has pre-set times, including 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes, and End of Chapter.
You can either choose from the pre-set times or tap on the custom option to select a custom time of your choice. The custom time can be set for up to 24 hours.
I have set up a timer of 40 minutes below.
Once the time is set, you will see a countdown on the audiobook title showing you the remaining time
When the time is up, the Audible book stops playing. You have the option to extend the timer for the same amount of time, reset the timer, or shake the device (within 30 seconds) to keep listening for the same amount of time
To turn off the shake-to-extend feature, tap on Profile from the bottom navigation bar and then tap the Setting gear icon (on the top right corner)
Next, tap on the Player option from the list

Tip: You can add a bookmark before setting up the timer. If you fall sleep in a few minutes, you can jump back to the bookmark.
To disable the timer, you can tap on the Timer icon and tap on off. You can also adjust the timer’s duration by going back to the timer and choosing a different time setting.
If you are listening to Audible on an Alexa device, you can use voice commands to set the sleep timer. Voice commands like ‘Alexa, stop reading in 10 minutes’ or ‘Alexa, set a 30-minute sleep timer’ work fine.
