How to Return & Exchange a Book on Audible

One of the key benefits of Audible is its generous return policy that allows you to return a title you do not like with one click.

This allows you to try new genres, authors, and narrators without losing a credit.

To exchange an Audible book, return a book that you do not like and get back your used credit to get another title of your choice.

Here are some basic requirements to return a title on Audible.

• You need an active Audible Premium Plus membership to return a title. It is recommended to always return the unwanted audiobooks before cancelling your Audible membership
• You can only return a title within 365 days of the purchase date
• Only titles purchased through credits can be returned. Any audiobooks purchased without credits (through cash) are not eligible for return.
• You can return a title on Audible’s desktop website, mobile website, or by contacting customer support. It is currently not possible to return a book via the Audible app.

It is important not to abuse the return policy as Audible can limit the number of returns or revoke the return privileges of abusers.

As audiobook lovers, we do not want to hurt authors and narrators as they are the ones who take financial loss of returns and exchanges.

It is recommended only to exchange the audiobooks that deserve to be exchanged.

So, how many books can you return on Audible? Well, Audible does not specify the number of books you can return per year. However, many users were able to return 2 books per year without any difficulty.

You can likely return more than 2 books per year, either from the Audible website or by contacting customer service. But two exchanges per year is a safe number.  

How to Return a Book on Audible

If you are looking for how to exchange a book on Audible, the first step is to return the book and get your Audible credit refund. You can then use the credit to get a new title.

Return Audible Books on the Audible Desktop Website

To return a title on your computer (PC and Mac) or a tablet, follow the instructions below.

• Open Audible’s website on your web browser and sign in to your account
• Click on Account Name > Account Details

• Next, click on Purchase History from the options and it will show all your purchased titles. Make sure the Last 365 days option is selected.
• Click on the Return this title option in front of the title that you want to return.

The audiobook is returned and credit is available for you to use on another title.

Return Audible Books on the Audible’s Mobile Website

You can also return an audiobook on Audible’s mobile website.

• Open Audible’s website on your mobile device’s internet browser
• Sign in to your account by tapping the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) on the top left of the screen
• Once signed in, tap on your Account Name > Purchase History

• This section will display all your purchased titles. You can tap on the Refine option to display orders placed in the last 365 days.
• Tap on the audiobook’s title to go to the details page. Here, you can tap on Return this title to return the book

That’s it. The audiobook is returned and credit is refunded to your account.

The first and most important part of exchanging a book is done. You can now use the refunded credit to purchase another title of your choice.
