The credit system is one of the standout features of Audible’s Premium Plus membership that enables you to purchase premium books for much less than their listed price.
All Premium Plus plans come with membership credits. One credit can be used to redeem one Audible book, regardless of its price.
The number of membership credits you receive depends on the type of membership plan you are subscribed to.
Members can also purchase extra credits after using the existing credits.
This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to buy Audible credits from the website and the app.
How to Buy More Credits on Audible Website
Here are a few things you need to know before buying extra Audible credits
- To purchase credits on Audible, you must have a Premium Plus membership, as Plus members are not eligible to buy credits. For a detailed comparison, check out Audible’s Plus vs Premium Plus membership article.
- You must be a paid Audible Premium Plus member for more than 30 days before you can purchase extra credits.
- You must have less than 2 credits (0 or 1 credit) in your account to be eligible for extra credits purchase. If you have more credits, use your existing credits before purchasing extra credits.
- When you run out of credits, you get an offer to purchase 3 extra credits for a discounted price.

- Credits purchased through the iOS app are billed via the App Store, while credits bought through the Android app are charged through the Google Play Store.
- Purchasing credits through the App Store costs more because Apple takes a 30% fee from in-app purchases. I recommend buying credits directly from Audible’s website or through their Android app. If you use an iPhone or iPad, you can still avoid the extra cost by visiting Audible’s mobile site via your device’s browser to make the purchase
- Most Audible credits expire after 12 months from the issue date. The credits purchased through App Store and Google Play Store do not expire.
Tip: The special offer activates if you have either 0 or 1 unused credit on Audible’s website or 0 unused credits when using the Audible app on iOS or Android.
To buy Audible credits from the website, visit Audible’s homepage and click on the “Buy Extra Credits” option from the top navigation menu (you can also go directly to Buy Extra Credits page)

Extra credits are typically available in bundles, with options to purchase 1, 3, or 5 credits.
You can also purchase credits from Audible’s mobile site using you mobile. Open Audible website on your device’s browser and tap on 0 credit (or 1 credit) at the top. You will be offered to purchase extra credits with single tap.

- Audible occasionally rewards its members with free credits through special promotions. Recently, I received an offer: ‘Use 3 credits, get 1 free.’ After activating the offer, I earned a free credit right away after using 2 credits.

- You lose all unused credits if you cancel your membership, so remember to use them before canceling.
- Use yours credits to only purchase the titles that cost more than a credit’s price. If an Audible book is available for $8, purchase it with cash instead.
