How Does Libro.fm Work?

This guide is divided into three sections

Step 1: Join Libro.fm Membership

You can create a free Libro.fm account and purchase audiobooks à la carte but they will cost you more.

As a member, you support a local bookstore of your choice. Libro fm also offers easy returns and credits never expire, even if you pause or cancel your membership.

To sign up for the Libro fm membership

Go to Libro.fm website and click on start your membership option

Next, click on create account

Enter your email address and click on create account

Check your email and click on confirm email link

Fill in your name, create a password etc and click on next

Next, choose the book store to support (or click on Skip for now option)

On the next page, enter your payment details and apply the promo code SWITCH to get 2 bonus credits. Click on the Start membership option

You have now subscribed to the Libro fm monthly subscription

That’s it. You are now a Libro.fm member, with 3 audiobook credits ready to use and other membership perks to enjoy.

Step 2: Purchase Audiobooks from Libro.fm

If you are not subscribed to Libro fm membership plan or need to purchase an audiobook a la carte, you will need to buy it from Libro.fm website.

The app only supports book purchases with credits.

Purchase Audiobook from the Libro.fm App

You can either tap on the Explore option and browse audiobooks by genres or tap on the Search option to search the audiobook by title, author, or narrator’s name.

Once you have found the audiobook you want to buy, tap on the Get audiobook (1 credit) option and tap on the Yes option to confirm the purchase.

You can also add the title to your wish list or send it as a gift to your loved ones. You can also listen to an audio sample to get a taste of the narration.

Once you have purchased the title, it is available in the Library section of your account

Purchase Audiobook from Libro.fm Website

To purchase an audiobook on Libro.fm website, either use the search bar (search by title, author, or narrator) at the top or browse the Libro.fm catalog from Explore or Genres options in the top menu bar.

Once you have found the audiobook you want to purchase, click on the Add to cart option on the book’s details page.

You can also listen to the narration sample of the audiobook, send it as a gift to others, or add it to your wish list here.

In the cart, you have options to purchase the audiobook through credit or cash (using your bank card).

I will go ahead and purchase the audiobook using credit by clicking on the Apply credit option.

I am asked to confirm the order.

The audiobook is successfully purchased using a credit.

All purchased titles are available in the Library section of your account.

Step 3: Listen to Your Audiobooks

Once you have purchased the audiobook, you can listen to it on your computer, in the Libro fm app, or download it to listen on other apps or devices of your choice.

To listen the purchased title on Libro fm app

Tap on the Library option at the bottom navigation bar. This section has all of your purchased title. Tap on the audiobook you want to listen

Next, tap on the Download audiobook option to download it to on your device

Once the book is downloaded, tap on the Play option and it will start playing

The Libro fm app player gives you the following playback controls.

Play/ Pause
Rewind 15 seconds
Forward 15 seconds
Playback Speed: Increase/ decrease narration speed
Sleep Timer
Create a Bookmark
Tracks & Bookmarks

You can change the default rewind/ forward time from 15 seconds to your choice in the settings (Menu > Settings).

You can go to the Menu section of the app for more options.

Listen on Libro.fm Website

To listen to an audiobook on Libro.fm website

Click on Account > Library. This section has all your audiobooks in one place.

To listen to a title, click on the Play now option for the title
The audiobook will start playing in the Libro.fm web player

You can use the basic playback features including narration speed conrtrol, rewind/ forward, and accessing the individual tracks of the audiobook.

You can also download the audiobook files to play on other apps or devices of your choice.

Libro.fm gives you options to download the audiobook files in mp3 formats (multiple files in zip folders) or in m4b format (single file).

Once you have downloaded the files you can play audiobook in your favorite app or on your favorite device.
