Clips and Bookmarks are very helpful when you want to listen to your favorite parts from an audiobook or podcast.
Clips make it easy to cut a favorite section or quote from an audiobook.
This article will show you how to create, save, play, edit, and delete clips and bookmarks on Audible.
First, a few points to make it clear how clips and bookmarks work on Audible.
- In the Audible app (on phones and tablets), you can create and save clips and bookmarks together for audiobooks. Any clip you save will automatically create a bookmark with it.
- For podcasts, you can only create Bookmarks in the Audible app.
- In the Audible’s Cloud Player (on your computers or tablets), you can only add bookmarks for audiobooks and podcasts. It is not possible to create clips on the Cloud Player.
- Clips can be as long as 2 minutes and as short as 5 seconds in length.

How Do Audible Clips Work
Clips are used to cut your favorite part from a book including a quote, short story, a joke, or anything else that catches your interest.
How to Save Audio Clip and Bookmark in the Audible App
To create and save clips and bookmarks in the Audible app, follow these steps.
- Open the Audible app on your device and play an audiobook from your library
- Tap on the +Clip option in the Audible player to create a clip
- You will get a popup confirming that your clip and bookmark have been saved with options to Add Note and Preview
- You can tap on Add Note to add a text note with the clip. This helps you find the clip when you are looking through all the saved bookmarks. The Preview option allows you to not only add a title at the top but adjust the length of the clip by sliding on both sides. You can listen to the clip while you are changing the length by tapping the Play button. The clip can be from 5 seconds in length up to 2 minutes.
Tap Save when done.
How to View Saved Clips and Bookmarks in the Audible App
Looking for how to find clips in Audible? follow these steps
- Open the Audible app and play an audiobook from the library
- Tap on the 3 dots menu on the top right of the screen and tap Clips & Bookmarks from the options
- Here, you have a list of all the clips and bookmarks for this audiobook. You can see the date and time when each of the clips and bookmarks was saved along with the chapter of the book, timestamp from the chapter, and note/title
Tap on the Play Clip to play any of the clips. Tapping on Go to Bookmark will resume playback from the exact position.
By default, the clips and bookmarks are organized by how recently they are added. You can tap on the upward/ downward arrow icon on the top right corner to sort clips and bookmarks by chapter or recent.
How to Delete or Edit Clips and Bookmarks in the Audible App
You can edit, delete, or add a note for a saved Audible clip and bookmark.
- Open the Audible app and play an audiobook
- Tap on the 3 Dots menu in the upper right corner of Audible Player and tap on Clips & Bookmarks to access all saved clips and bookmarks
- Tap on the 3 dots in front of a clip and you will get the following options
- You can tap on Edit Clip to edit the length of the clip or tap on Delete to remove the clip and bookmark from the collection or tap on Add/Edit Note to add a note or edit an already added note.
If you want to delete more than one clip, tap on the Pencil option at the top right to select and delete more than one clip and bookmark.
How Do Audible Bookmarks Work
Audible’s Cloud Player allows you to create bookmarks (without clips) to mark a specific point in a book to return to it later.
You can also create bookmarks (without clips) for podcasts in the Audible app.
How to Bookmarks on Audible’s Cloud Player
If you are listening to an audiobook on your computer or tablet (without the Audible app), click on the Add a Bookmark option.
The bookmark will be added and you will get the option to Add a note.
You can add a note and save it to easily find it later.
To access all saved bookmarks of an audiobook, click on the 3 dots on the top right of the Cloud Player window and then click Bookmarks from the options. A list of all saved bookmarks will appear.
You can delete a bookmark or add a note for it by clicking on the 3 dots in front of it.
How to Add Bookmarks in the Audible App
While clips and bookmarks can be added together for audiobooks in the Audible app (as explained above), you can only add bookmarks for podcasts.
Tap on the +Bookmark on the Audible Player to add a bookmark for a podcast.
The bookmark is created and saved. You get the option to Add not to the bookmark. It is recommended to add a note to locate the bookmark easily.
You can access all bookmarks for a podcast by tapping on the 3 dots in the upper right corner of Audible Player and then tapping Bookmarks.
Then tap on the 3 dots in front of a bookmark to Play, Edit, or Delete it. By tapping on Edit, you can edit the note for the specific bookmark.
