This is one of the best ways to save money on Audible and allows you to grab expensive titles for less.

I have answered the most asked questions about Audible credits in the past. This article focuses on how to get free Audible credits and how to use them effectively

1. Signup for the Audible Trial

Audible offers a 30-days free trial that comes with 1 free credit. You can use the credit to get any audiobook of your choice from Audible’s extensive audiobook collection including bestsellers and new releases.

Audible also runs offers to join the trial for 2 credits. At the time of writing this article, you can sign up for Audible trial and get 2 credits for free.

You can enjoy other benefits of Audible’s free trial including unlimited access to the Plus Catalog with over 70,000 titles and access to Audible’s exclusive sales and deals for members.

2. Extra Free Credit for Amazon Prime Users

Audible has an exclusive offer for Amazon Prime members where Prime members are invited to start their trial with 2 free credits.

To avail the offer, go to Audible’s Amazon Prime trial page and sign up using the Amazon account information that has the Prime membership attached to it.

Audible has no additional discounts for Amazon Prime members and Prime members have to pay the same membership charges as others.

Audible also occasionally offers 3 months trials for Prime members, enabling you to enjoy free membership for 3 months and get 3 free credits

Discounted memberships are mostly offered in the last quarter (October to December) so expect some great deals in the holiday season and on Black Friday.

3. Get Free Credits with Special Offer

Audible occasionally offers free credits to its members. I recently got an offer to use 3 credits to get 1 free credit.

I activated the offer, purchased three audiobooks using the credits, and immediately received a free credit.

Now, how often do members get free credit offers? I am not sure about that. This is the first time I was offered a free credit.

4. Return a Title to Get a Credit

Audible has a generous return policy that allows you to return an audiobook you do not like, no questions asked.

If you purchased a title using a credit, you can return it and get a free credit to use it for another Audible book purchase.

Some of the basic requirements to return a title include

• You need an active membership to return a title
• You can return a title within 365 days of the purchase date
• It is only possible to return an audiobook purchased with a credit. You cannot return a title purchased with cash
• It is currently not possible to return a title through the Audible app. You can only return a title on Audible’s website

There is no official number on how many books you can return but many users have reported returning 2 titles per year without any problem.

It is important to not abuse the return feature as Audible can limit the number of returns or revoke the return privileges of abusers.

To return an Audible book on website

• Open Audible’s website and sign in to your account. Click on Account Name > Account Details

• Next, click on the Purchase History option from the side menu and click on Return this title in front of a title that you want to return

The audiobook will return and you will get the credit to use for another purchase.

To return an Audible book on a mobile device

• Open the Audible website in any browser and sign in to your account by tapping the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) on the top left of the screen
• Once signed in, tap on Account Name > Purchase History

• This section will display all the purchased titles. Tap on a title that you want to return and tap on Return this title on the next screen

After confirming your return, 1 credit will be added to your account. This credit will expire 12 months after being issued so use it within a year.

5. Get an Audible Membership Gift

You can receive an Audible membership as a gift, which means you will get the credits even if you are already an Audible member.

Audible members and non-members can send an Audible membership as a gift including 12 months membership plan (12 credits), 6 months plan (6 credits), 3 months plan (3 credits) or 1 month plan (1 credit).

If you are currently an Audible member, you will receive all credits from a redeemed gift membership at once.
