1. What is Everand

In November 2023, Scribd divided its content into two products; Everand and Scribd.

Everand is home of stories and knowledge and focuses on entertainment content, including eBooks, audiobooks, podcasts, newspapers, magazines, sheet music, and more.

Before split, Scribd had material ranging from documents to books, but it created confusion for people who were interested in books.

They separated their books and other entertainment content and introduced a new subscription-based product, Everand, to make it easier for book lovers to find what they are looking for.

2. Is Scribd now Everand?

Scribd had a huge library of documents, eBooks, audiobooks, podcasts, magazines, news articles, and sheet music.

Some users primarily search for documents while others are looking for eBooks and audiobooks. It creates confusion for those interested in finding books (eBooks and audiobooks).

Scribd has listened to its users and separated its content, creating a new service called Everand. Now, Everand offers audiobooks, eBooks, podcasts, etc, while Scribd offers access to documents such as academic papers, legal documents, and manuals.

10. Is Everand unlimited?

Everand gives you access to audiobooks and eBooks catalogs for a monthly membership. You can consider it as Netflix of audiobooks, where you access the content for a monthly fee.

There are monthly limits for certain eBooks and audiobooks, but one benefit of a diverse library is that you can read/ listen to something else if a title’s access is locked for the month.

11. What is Evernd monthly limit?

The Everand monthly limits are caused by each subscriber’s recent reading/ listening activity.

If you encounter a limit on a particular title, the title will be inaccessible to you until the next billing cycle.

You generally get limits on popular titles. You can always enjoy other titles in the meantime. You will also never get locked out of Everand originals.

12. How many books can I listen to on Everand?

Everand limitation policy is not well defined other than a general statement

‘These limits are caused by each subscriber’s individual recent reading/listening activity’, According to Everand

I wish Everand is more transparent about this issue. Some people were able to read 10 eBooks before they locked out. Some were locked out after listening to 2 audiobooks.

A common observation is that the more recent or popular an audiobook is, more likely it is to get a monthly limitation.

You can refer to the following Reddit threads about Everand subscribers’ experience with limitations.

13. Do you have to pay for audiobooks on Everand?

You only have to get a monthly or annual membership to access Everand ebooks, audiobooks, and other content.

The Everand app works on a variety of mobile devices and tablets including

  • iPhone/ iPad [iOS 16 or higher]. On older devices, you can visit Everand website using your browser
  • Android smartphones/ tablets [Android 7.1.1 or newer]. You can use Everand by going to the website on older devices

Some ebook readers cannot connect to Everand through the app or web, including Nook GlowLight, Kobo, and most versions of Kindle.

16. Can multiple people use Everand?

You can save Everand content on multiple devices but I will not recommend sharing your Everand account because of monthly limits.

Two (or more) users will hit the monthly limit sooner and may not be able to enjoy an eBook/audiobook fully.

You can cancel your Everand subscription anytime you want

  • Login to your account (on Everand and Scribd)

If you have purchased a subscription through Apple or Google (iOS or Android apps), you can follow the instructions here to cancel your subscription.

18. Is Everand legit?

Yes, Everand is a legitimate platform and a digital library of books from Scribd. Scribd has been around since 2007 and started offering audiobooks in 2014.

In November 2023, Scribd introduced Everand for book lovers, where they can enjoy books and other digital content.

Everand app has millions of downloads on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

19. Is Everand worth it?

Everand offers millions of eBooks and audiobooks under one subscription plan, which makes it a perfect product for book lovers who enjoy eBooks and audiobooks.

The Everand catalog is vast and offers everything from new releases to the best sellers. The only disadvantage of Everand subscription is that there are monthly limitations on some titles and Everand has no clear explanation on how they work.

Everand offers a free 30-day trial for users to get a taste of what they offer. You can join the free trial and cancel anytime if it is not for you.

20. Is Everand better than Audible?

It depends on your use. Audible is the largest audiobook platform with a vast library of audiobook including bestsellers, new releases, and more.

Everand offers both eBook and audiobook formats but is not truly unlimited. You might get through two audiobooks in a billing cycle before the rest are restricted. The eBook version is still available most of the time.

If you are not a heavy audiobook listener or enjoy both audiobooks and eBooks formats, Everand is a better choice for you.

If you are a heavy audiobook listener and do not read eBooks, Audible is a better choice because of its extensive audiobook collection.

Audible’s Plus Catalog offers over 70,000 audiobooks for unlimited streaming and credit system, sales, and offers to get audiobooks for much less than the listed price.

You also get to keep the purchased Audible titles after canceling the membership while Everand titles are available as long as you are an active member.

  1. The new system at Everand is opaque. I’ve just paid for my 10th. year and now there’s a poorly executed premium program,so if a title I might want say unavailable am I being throttled for the two books I’ve currently got? Furthermore, how to see if either of these other two levels have anything I might value and be willing to pay more for? On the internet you need to show a customer value to get their money and not merely state that the selection is wider.

    • Yes, since Everand introduced the new system, there have been complaints from most users. Everand’s unique selling point was unlimited access to the entire library, which they have lost. It was worth it (even with monthly limits), but now they are like any other Audible competitor.
