1. Is the Audible app free?

Yes, the Audible app is free to download and install on your device. You can get it on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch and on the Google Play Store for Android devices.

3. Can i use the Audible app without a membership?

Yes, you can use the Audible app without a subscription. After downloading the app, simply sign in with your Amazon account (or create new account if you don’t have one already).

You can access free audiobooks from the Free Listens section and enjoy a variety of podcasts.

Additionally, you can purchase Audible books without a membership plan, though members receive a 30% discount on all cash purchases.

4. Does the Audible app use data?

Audible uses data to download audiobooks from the cloud to your device. Once the title is downloaded, you can listen to it offline without an internet connection.

Audible also requires internet connection to sync your current listening position across devices which is a useful feature if you use Audible on multiple devices

5. How to find free books on the Audible app?

Audible offers hundreds of free audiobooks in its Free Listens section. You can listen to these free Audible books without a membership plan.

To get a Free Listen title

  • Tap on Discover option and search the title by tapping on the Search option.
  • Tap on the book name from the search results and then tap on the Add to library option. The free title is now in your library where you can listen to it with one tap.

If you are subscribed to one of the Audible membership plans, you can go to the Plus Catalog (Profile > The Plus Catalog) to view all included titles that you can listen for free.

Alternatively, when you search for audiobooks, you can check the included in your membership option to filter the Plus Catalog titles in the search results.

6. Can you change the voice in the Audible app?

It is not possible to change the voice in the Audible app. The audiobooks are recorded by narrators, selected by publisher and author.

Asking to change a narrator is like asking to replace an actor in a movie.

However, you can change the narration speed by tapping on 1.0 X Speed option in the audiobook player

7. Where are settings in the Audible app?

To access Settings in the Audible app, tap on the Profile option in the bottom navigation bar and then tap on the Settings gear at the top right of the screen.

8. How to change the Audible app language?

To change the language in the Audible app

  • Open the Audible app and tap on the Profile option in the bottom navigation bar
  • Next, tap on the Settings gear at the top right of the screen

9. Does the Audible app have a sleep timer?

Yes, Audible has a sleep timer that allows you to automatically stop the audiobook you are currently listening to, after a set time.

  • Tap on the Timer icon when an Audible book is playing.

  • There are pre-set times, from 5 minutes to 60 minutes (and end of chapter), to choose from. You can either choose an option from the list or tap on Custom option to set a custom time.

10. How to find Wishlist on Audible app?

To access the Wish List in the Audible app, open the Audible app and tap on the Library option from the bottom navigation bar.

11. How to find pdf in Audible app?

Some Audible books have accompanying PDFs with supplementary material. You can access these PDFs in two ways.

To view PDF in Audible app, either tap on 3-dot menu option in the upper right corner or tap on the chapters icon.

12. How to find purchase history in the Audible app?

Audible app currently doesn’t display your purchase history. To view purchase history on your mobile, follow these steps.

  • Open Audible’s website on your device’s web browser
  • Tap on the hamburger menu (on the top left of the screen) and sign in to your account
  • Next, tap on your Account Name > Purchase history to view your purchase history.

13. How to find archived books in the Audible app?

All archived Audible books are moved to the Archive folder in Audible app. To access your archived titles

  • Open the Audible app and tap on the Library option in the bottom navigation bar
  • Next, tap on the Collections option in the top navigation bar
  • The Archive folder will show in the list

14. How to access the Plus Catalog in the Audible app?

To access the Plus Catalog in the Audible app

  • Open Audible app and tap on the Profile option in the bottom navigation bar
  • Next, tap on The Plus Catalog under Included with Membership option

Once in the Plus Catalog, you can browse audiobooks by category, mood, editor’s pick, new releases, popular titles and more.

You can also search the Plus Catalog titles in the app and listen to them for free.

15. How to return a book in the Audible app?

It is currently not possible to return a title in the Audible app. To return an Audible book on your mobile device or tablet, follow these steps.

  • Go to Audible’s website on your device’s internet browser
  • Sign in to your account by tapping on the hamburger icon on the top left of screen
  • Once signed in, tap on Account Name > Purchase History

  • Here you will have all purchased titles. Tap on the title you want to return and tap on Return the title option to return it.

16. How to exchange a book in the Audible app?

Once you return an Audible title, your credit is refunded, allowing you to use it for another audiobook.

Keep in mind that only titles bought with credits are eligible for returns, and returns must be made within 365 days of purchase.

17. How to use credits in Audible app?

To purchase an audiobook in the Audible app using credits:

  • Tap on the Discover option in the bottom navigation bar
  • Next, either browse the audiobooks or search for the title you are looking from top search bar

  • After selecting an audiobook, you can choose to buy it with either a credit or cash. Simply tap Buy with 1 Credit to complete the purchase using your credit.

You have purchased the title and it is now available in the library section. You can buy credits in Audible app and there are some ways to get credits for free.

  • Tap on the Profile option in the bottom navigation bar
  • Next, tap on the Settings option in the top right of the screen

To update Audible app on your android devices, go to Google Play Store and search for ‘Audible’.  Click on Update here.

22. What is car mode in the Audible app?

Car Mode feature enables you to listen to Audible books on your car’s sound system.

To launch Car Mode

  • Connect your device with your car (via Bluetooth, USB, or Aux cable)
  • Tap on the Car Mode icon in your player before driving

  • The Car Mode is activated. It features a large and easy to read screen and is compatible with Apple Car Play, Android Auto, and Android Automotive OS

Experience hands free listening while driving as the Audible app supports Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa and you can use voice commands to control playback or use steering wheel controls.

If you have Android Automotive OS in your vehicle, you can download Audible app directly from car’s app store and listen to Audible books without your phone.

23. How to cancel Audible on the app?

  • Tap on Profile > View Account

If your Audible membership is billed through Apple or Google, you can cancel it through App Store or Google Play Store.

  • Open App Store or iOS device Settings
  • Tap on your name > Subscriptions
  • Select Audible and tap on Cancel subscription

Tap on Confirm to cancel your subscription.

  • Open Google Play Store and select Profile icon
  • In Profile menu, tap on Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions
  • Select Audible > Cancel subscription

24. How do I keep Audible playing while using other apps?

You need to enable background activity on your device to keep Audible running while screen is locked or when using other apps.

  • Tap on Settings > General
  • Tap on the Background App Refresh
