Amazon Music Unlimited to Include Free Audible Book

Amazon announced that Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can now listen to one audiobook a month free from Audible’s catalog.

The offer is currently available to subscribers in the U.S., UK, and Canada.

This offer gives Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers access to over 1 million audiobooks in Audible’s premium catalog. Subscribers can listen to one audiobook at a time, regardless of its length.

This announcement comes after Spotify started offering 15 hours of free audiobook listening time to its premium subscribers in October 2023 and quickly became 2^nd largest audiobook platform behind Audible in February 2024.

“The combination of Amazon Music and Audible, two pioneers in audio streaming, brings an unmatched selection of audio entertainment to customers,” said Steve Boom, VP of Audio, Twitch, and Games for Amazon.

Here are some of the important things to know about Amazon’s announcement.

• This offer is available to Amazon Music Unlimited Individual plan subscribers and the primary account holder of the Amazon Music Unlimited Family plan.
• If you have an Audible membership, your Amazon Music Unlimited subscription will not impact your Audible membership benefits
• You can stream at your convenience and continue listening to your monthly title after the next billing cycle begins or select a new one.
• You can listen to audiobooks on Amazon Music or Audible apps. However, you can only replace an audiobook with a new book on the Amazon Music app when your Amazon Music Unlimited subscription renews each month.
• If you cancel your Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, you will lose access to your audiobook selection.

Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers who want to listen to more audiobooks can either subscribe to Audible or purchase titles without a membership plan

How to Listen to the Free Audible Book

To select an Audible book for the month, tap on the Audible option from the top navigation and select a title.

You can locate your Audible audiobook selection in the Amazon Music library and select Play.

Once the audiobook is selected, it will also be added to your Audible Library, and you can listen to it in the Audible app anytime.

You do not need an Audible membership to access the free audiobooks and can listen to them in the Audible app without an Audible subscription.

You can listen to the free Audible book as long as you are subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited.

If you pause or cancel your Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, you will lose access to your Audible book in Audible and Amazon Music apps.

Listening to Audible books in the Audible app is the best experience, as you can access the additional features, including the timer, bookmarks & clips, narration speed, etc.

All other Audible books that you have purchased separately or have access to with an Audible membership are only available in the Audible app or on the Audible website.

How to Change Audible Book in Amazon Music App

You can either continue listening to the same Audible title each month or select a new one. If you are subscribed to a monthly plan, you can select a new title the day your membership renews.

For example, if your subscription renews on the 10th of the month, you can select a new book on the 10^th of each subsequent month.  

If you are subscribed to an annual plan, you can select a new title on the same date of each month as your initial subscription date.

To replace the Audible book in the Amazon Music app

• Select Audible in the top navigation
• Find the book you want to listen to
• On the book’s detail page, tap on Select Audiobook
• Tap on the Confirm option

Once you have replaced the audiobook, you can no longer access the previous audiobook.
